Default Remove Super glue

Hi,

I have a Black 2005 Ford Mustang with Saleen Body Kit. The doors have a side skirt that started to peel off. It was taped in previously. Once the glue started to come off, I fixed them with super glue. But now I would like to remove the whole side skirts and retape them.
I have super glue stains from my finger around the side skirts. I tried "oops", but didnt help. I would like to remove the tape and then the super glue stains.

Any suggestions.

Super glue is hard as hell to remove.

I personally got krazy glue all over my car, it took hours of elbow grease with a clay bar, but the crazy glue was tiny little specs, not big globs or anything that a clay bar may not be able to remove.

You might be in a sand/paint situation, or a live with it situation.

Nail polish remover? It will probably remove the paint too.

I will try with the clay bar and post the results.

No Collision center is giving me an estimate how much its going to cost. I will do it myself. What do u say.?

Thanks for the replies.

I've heard of people freezing the super glue with ice cubes and catch it with a finger nail.

I think the major problem with super glue is that it will bond to the paint. I don't know if it will take the paint with it or not. I got lucky with my situation because the glue only had a couple hours to cure before I was 3/4 of the way finished removing it. It took me a good 6 hours though.

How bad is it?

Any pics of the damage? Claybar works ok.

I say wetsand with a 1K grit and polish afterward to remove and scratches left from the sandpaper.

Super glue is so hard that I would avoid wet sanding unless you are planning on painting it....

It'll take so much time to get through that super glue that you will likely break through the surrounding clear and it'll look like you have an open wound. You COULD try 2000+ wet in a hidden area and see how it works - but unless you have a machine to polish, you'll never get the marring out by hand, especially if you don't use a sanding block. The uneven pressure from your fingers will leave a mess behind..

Default Found an answer atlast

I visited a mechanic; He removed the super glue stains with paint thinner and later used a polish to make the stains invisible.

I should say that the thinner worked on the metal paints but the paint on the vinyl side stripes started to show the inner color. I fixed them with a touch up paint.

Thanks for your patient replies.
