I tried one (that was given to me by my brother) for drying and such. I would not use one again even to wipe my dog A$$ with. I don't know how to be any more specific than that. I am just damn glad he bought them and not me!

I use them to get the majority of the water up, and then I come back with a different towl for the smaller streaks.

you can use 100% cotton terry towels as well.

micro fiber towels ahve only been around the last 5 years of a 110 yr old consumer auto industry

100% Cotton terrycloth towels are the way to go for removing the wax after it's been applied. For drying my cars, I use a shammy (natural, not a shamwow or synthetic) to remove the majority of the water, then cotton terrycloth towels for the final dry.

I wouldn't use shamwow on any surface that might scratch, but found them useful for places you wouldn't want to ruin a nice microfiber. Cleaning the wheel wells, degrease engine compartment, or soaking up a spilled latte out of you girlfriend's cup holder. My dad gave me a bunch he got as a gift, just cut them up into wash cloth sizes and toss when they get too dirty.

Only use microfiber products to apply wax. If you use shamwow, you will just put a bunch of swirls in the paint.
