Default Sand "blasted" windshield - any hope?

I tried the search but didn't find anything. After 130,000+ miles of mainly highway driving, my windshield is looking like it was sand blasted. When I go into direct sunlight it gets a sparkly glare.

Can it be polished back to smooth, or do I need to replace it?

Eastwood auto body (I think that is the name of the company) sells a glass polishing system for scratches, but depending on how bad it is it may only reduce the problem and not totally fix it.

I kept waiting/hoping it would break. Someone noticed a small chip and said "we can fix that before it cracks" and I told them I would rather just leave it and let it crack!

The stupid chip didn't change through many blizzards and the defroster running full blast this winter.
