FYI, most metal polishes, including the Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish, PowerMetal and Billet Metal Polish, are all intended for use on uncoated aluminum. They will indeed remove clearcoat if you are aggressive enough, or if you use them repeatedly. Ask me how I know this.

For clearcoated wheels, I usually use a plastic polish which acts as a one-step polish and protection.

All factory alloys are clearcoated -- that is, unless they are chrome plate.
