Default Removing vinyl stripes?

I am going to be having my stripes painted on the car, but the guy painting them refuses to deal with the vinyl stripes that are on the car now. What is the best, easiest way to remove them without damaging the paint?

I talked to my body shop guy recently about the same thing. If I understood correctly he uses some type of rubber wheel on a drill or grinder. Check with other body shops and they would probably tell you how. How much to paint them? My guy said $600 to $800 including removal of old stripes.

I have a guy who will paint and clear them for $350 if I get the stripes off. Extremely fair price as far as I can tell. I did have someone tell me $900 and he would take the stripes off. I kept thinking that there had to be a way for me to do them myself.

Go to U-Tube and there are several demos. Not so bad.

Just use a hairdryer or heat gun and heat them up. They will come off real easy. If there is any residue left over, use a product like Stoner Tarmaintor, Goo Gone, or 3M Adhesive Remover. Super easy to do.

I removed stripes on the sides of my car the weekend after I purchased it. Just use a hairdryer and heat small sections at a time. Go slow and follow up with adhesive remover on the spots that leave residue.
