Default EXHAUST QUESTION

Alright, I have a very mild background in cars, but I finally got my Stang. Its a 97 4.6 GT, and i want a kick *** exhaust that will make it roar. I was looking at a flowmaster american thunder...would it make it louder if i just put 2 40series mufflers with an h pipe?....I just want to make it real loud for under $500..any suggestions would be reall helpful..Thanks

Something straight through will be louder than Flowmasters if that's what you want, or you can look into some cut-outs for all out noise & a bunch of extra HP to make your car breathe better at WOT.

a few ideas. i'm not sure, but are the 97's bolt on's from the headers back? anyways, my 98 is. You could get an x pipe. UPR has a good one, some friends of mine has one. www.uprproducts.com they run for about $150 i think. From there u could go expensive and get a MAC cat back system. or just a simple 40 series flowmaster set up. Easily under $500 right there....now if you were thinking about something more expensive, you get could get some longtube headers, with a shorty H pipe, and flowmaster. note: off road X/H pipe means no cats. aka, cut out....

my buddy has a 96' GT. the h-pipe was a bolt-on style on that one too...the thing is still a B*TCH to get to though...but anyway, he's got the classic o/r h-pipe/flowmaster combo and it sounds pretty sweet/loud.
