Black Paint - PICTURES INCLUDED!!!
Let me preface with the fact that I admittedly have OCD when it comes to car care... the type of guy who will clean his car with bottled water and a tooth brush if I thought it would help any. I've had my 2006 black clear coat for almost two monthes now... and I've noticed some areas in the paint that look like a fine spider web etching, hair-like lines, and swirl marks.. which are only noticeable under direct light; such as a camera flash (close-up), shop light + garage light... but not under sun light. I think some of these marks may be imperfections in the parts themselves prior to being painted... and I also think that many of these imperfections probably wouldn't show up on any other color. Here are the pictures; I'll let you be the judge... oh and one last side note: these pictures were taken tonight (Thursday, about an hour ago..) and the car was washed, polished and waxed on Sunday.. it rained the next day; I wanted to show the paint without coats of wax and polish blocking or covering up anything. I also put emphasis on the hood because that's where I'm having problems.. ironically, perhaps not, the shop that put on this OEM hood (my first one got dinged pretty good in a parking lot hit and run).. it was just sealed last week. Let me know what you think, and if I should invest in a good detailer, and/or swirl/scratch remover or anything else to REMOVE not temporarily cover anything up... Thanks in advance!
First picture, from a distance - looks wet and clean... simulating what it would look like outside on a sunny day..

Closer up, with the flash enabled - every smudge, line, etching, swirl mark is pronounced and 100% visible... this is with the garage, shop, and camera light focused on the area.

Standing above the hood, same circumstances - gives more detail to the imperfections.

Directly above the hood, about 12 inches over.

Now here's two pictures without the flash on.. simulating what the car would look like on a sunny day... aka the hotness.

I have a black 04 GT and I just had the roof repainted due to the paint being too thin in the corners from the factory. After the dealer buffed the paint, it looks just like the paint in your pictures. Also having OCD about cars, I took it to a guy who owns a body sop and restores cars on the side. I asked about swirl marks and he said that it is basically a fact of life when you own a black car. He said that any washing, etc. will cause those tiny imperfections in a clear coat which can't be seen on other colors. His advice was to either buy a good glaze and use it often, or learn to be less picky. I think I'm gonna go for the glaze. There is a good post about black paint care in the DIY forum. I don't know if this is any help to you, it's just my recent experience with something similar.
