Torque boxes, what a stupid design!
It seems Ford engineers could have built an open gusset design instead of a box that collects dirt and water. The dirt then holds all the moisture and rots your frame rails. Look what I found today.

No worries. I knew I had to replace them but I didn't think the frame rail would be in that condition. I ground all the rust away from the rail and doused it with rust killer. I plan on repairing it and hopefully not replacing the frame rail. I think I can beef it up better than factory. If anyone thinks this is a bad idea let me know. I just don't want to have to tear the interior out and drill out all the spot welds. I am getting close to finishing the body work and would like to wrap this up by late fall. I also have to replace the pasenger rear frame rail. I do plan on ordering one of those along with new torque boxes.
