Default Cleaning up a classic radio

I'll be putting back the original radio in my car soon (yes, the current one will be for sale, stay tuned for details) and pulled it out last night to see how it looked. The front looks work and I'm wondering what products to use to shine up the chrome and make it look a little spiffier.

That old pot metal is difficult to get back to original looking because it tends to have little bubbles in it after several years. Try using some chrome cleaner. That will at least get the gunk off, but you will still have the tiny bubbles. That just gives it character.

Thanks, I'm going to take a picture of it later and will post it to show the areas I'd like cleaned up.

I'd try a Dremel tool with the Polishing Kit

Just stay away from the plastic parts with it.

I tried that on my console, and all it did was dig out the bubbles and make them into pits. It's pot metal doncha' know? There is a very expensive place that will make that radio look new, but they are very expensive. Let me know if you need that info.

Ah good to know... I've used it on other metals without the bubbles and thought it might help. Oh well
