Default gas pedal spring install help

My 66 didn't have a gas pedal in it. So I ordered the pedal, bolt/screw, and spring from DallasMustangs.

Now I know how to put the pedal on the accelerator rod with the bolt. But how in the world does the spring fit in the picture?

Can anyone post a picture of the backside of their installed gas pedal?

Thanks,
Kris

The spring should go from the carb throttle linkage to a solid point on the intake or carb base. It does not go behind the pedal...

There is a spring that goes behind the pedal but I'm sorry I don't have a picture of that. My pedal is not on right now either.

What engine and carb do you have? I can guarantee you there is no spring on the inside of the car for the gas pedal. Look at the picture of mine with a Motorcraft 2V carb. There is a coil spring that operates the linkage. You could have the wrong spring.

I have a 302 engine, but I'll have to check on the carb.

I purchased the spring in the thinking that is was used so the gas pedal would not just flop a round all of the time. The bolt that holds the gas pedal on has a slotted line almost the length of the threaded area that I thought somehow the spring was suspossed to set in.

Thanks,
Kris

I can see why you had trouble. That thing sucks to figure out but I got it. Here is a pic. The top of the pedal is up in the picture. Place your spring just like the one in the pic then put the pedal on the rod. The hooky part of the spring hooks on the rod. The funky little bolt/screw goes throught the rod and the spring and will keep the spring in place. It will keep you from having a flippy floppy pedal. Most cars don't have them because they broke and fell off years ago.
