Default Oil Overflow?

I have a '66 with an after-market .351. I purchaed it with this. On the oil cap, there is a hose coming of of it. It goes to nowhere. Is this to just spit oil out if the pressure gets too high?

No that is not a pressure relief, in the late 70's cars had a vent hose like that that went to the air brether to recycle gases that build up inside engines. mostly a emissions thing aslong as you have a pvc vale on the other head you can get rid of that cap and get one that look more period correct.

So you are saying that it is supposed to be attached to something? I need to figure out what that is. Any hints in where I can find where it is supposed to be connected?

So you are saying that there is going ot be no oil overspillage out of this hose?

What about jamming it with something?I keep on thinking that the pressure is going to eventually blow some oil over the top of my engine.

Here is a better pic of the engine.

Oil won't blow all over your block. The hose used to connect to the stock air cleaner that came on your 351. Now you have an aftermarket cleaner with no input for the hose. Don't worry about it, if you are worried about appearances purchase a filler cap that you like to look at to replace it.

+1 on colostang's comments. Just buy an aftermarket cap that does not have the fitting for the cap to air cleaner hose.
