Hey, I just got done stripping the drivetrain out of a 89 Lincoln mark 7 and I was wondering if the rear from it would fit in my 66 mustang, I heard it was a little wider by about 2 inches but I dont know for sure, the next question I had is,can any of the front brake stuff be fitted to my 66, I dropped the whole K member out of the Lincoln in one shot, so the front end is completly assembled still, I figured it might be a long shot but I figured I would ask.

Lincoln has the 8.8 IIRC so I would suggest a search on 8.8 install. I have not done this so I can offer no first hand knowledge or advise.

 

Like you said the rear is too wide. The front end stuff is different too.
Look for a Mercury Monarch with a 200 six. Many of these have 9" rears that are a near perfect match to the 65-66 The front end stuffs can be swapped also.

 

The Mark VII rear discs make a great mod to your existing 8" rear end.
