Default auto trans dipstick length

Hi:

I had my '65 6 cylinder auto recently converted to an 8 cylinder 289, together with the auto transmission from an 8 cylinder 289 (the small dot transmission ala 1965). I also got a new reproduction auto transmission dipstick as the old dipstick would no longer seat properly, and noticed that the new dipstick is shorter and fits perfectly. Did 6 cylinder auto trans cars and 8 cylinder auto trans cars use different dipsticks----this is a new one to me if they did (Aye, that's using your dipstick!).

IIRC, the dipstick and tube were the same, except the 6 and 8 had the tab in a different spot on the tube.
