Rain Gutter Rust Advice
I have a 64 1/2 Mustang with bad rust right behind roll down rear driver side window. It is at the base of the rain gutter. Ill try to attach a picture. I want to know if there is an easy way to fix it myself or if a repair panel is made of if i should take it in to a professional to have it done. Thanks Colin.

An awkward place to have rust...
It looks like the majority of it is in your quarter panel... as far as i know, they don't sell repair panels for rain gutters, and they dont sell quarter panel repair panels for the upper part of the panel.
I'm not quite sure on the fix, because that really is a unique place for rust, but i'd have to say that i THINK the best method to get that fixed is to cut out that section of the rain gutter, then gut out the rusted through section on the quarter panel. Weld a piece of sheet metal (doesn't necessarily need to come from a quarter panel repair panel) in place of the cut out area then blend it in with fiberglass and/or bondo. After that, find a donor car (or a new rain gutter--if you can find a repro for sale) and cut off the same area of your rain gutter but a slightly longer piece. Overlap the piece on your original rain gutter and spot weld them where they overlap, tac weld where it touchs the quarter panel.
This should do it, however it may not be the best way, theres more than one way to fix any auto body problem, but this is how "I" would do it if i were to have the same problem. Once again if anyone else has a better idea please do take over.

Heh It might be i'd have to go out to check. It also could just be dust. I live about as far north in California as it gets. So it is pretty damp here. And it has'nt been driven in a few years. It just under one of those big tents to keep it dry. And thanks for the welcome. Glad to be here i think i have a pretty unique car it'll be fun seeing what i can learn about it.
