Default dents? what a horror

First off, thank you all for all the help.... i'm really happy i found this place.... ok, to business.... i have one dent on this beauty. It's in the drivers back wheel well, behind the tire, between the tire and bumper corner..... there arn't any crease's, just a dent about 8 inches long by 4 to five inches wide.... what should i look for before taking the dent out? Do dents create any weak spots in the metal? Along with that, should i do it by hand with a rubber mallet or have it proffesionaly doen when i send it in to get painted (which could be a while)?
Thank you for all your input.

If it's not creased or stretched you might get away with pulling it out with a suction cup dent puller. These are simple to use and might work in your case.
