Default gas mileage and best transmission

I have a 94 cobra with the factory five speed and 5.0
What transmission is in my car like the model number and is that trans good if I start beefing my car up later with a supercharger or even leaving it stock but being kind of of hard of it? I'm thinking hard on putting gears in my car. Everybody says 4.10's are the best for your buck. Will I lose a lot on gas mileage with gears on the freeway? And if I want to put a 6 speed tremec in my car later do they bolt right in an older car like mine?

youll have to change the bellhousing id say but 4:10 gears would be awesome with a 6speed. your tranny should hold up alright for awhile. if youre mean to it long enuf itll let you know though.its a T5.

The model number is on a plate on the transmission, you won't miss it if you get under the car. The 4.10's will not cost you that much gas mileage. I recommend 3.73's, but that's personal opinion. There are a lot of guys who recommend 4.10's, but I don't like shifting that often.
