tire size difference
First number is the cross section width at its widest point. (Contact width in millimeters). The second number in the size will be your aspect ratio and refers to a percentage of your width, which determines your sidewall height. For instance, a 245/45-r17 is this: Width is 245mm at widest point, 45 means the sidewall height is 45% of 245. Finally, the r means the tire is a radial, and 17 is of course the rim size.

so a 205 has a smaller sidewall than a 245?

Keep the ones you have. The diameter of that second tire is about 1.5" SMALLER and it will mess up your speedo. It is also alot skinnier than what you have. You would need a 205/60 R16 to keep the same diameter and that means more sidewall. If you want it WIDER, then you would need a tire with a higher first number and a lower aspect ratio, like a 265/45 R16....
