Default Buying a stang

Alright heres the deal, Ive been looking at stangs alot lately. I definatly want to get one but im not sure What year i should get....The main conflict going on in my mind is between the 4.6 or the 5.0 liter. Im looking for a mustang in between 94-98. So either a 94-95 for the five liter or 96-98 for the 4.6...What do you guys suggest keeping Sound, performance, and "upgradabilty" in mind... Thanks

Aftermarket.. 5.0, the parts are just there and there are more option then you have for the 4.6... Since you are looking into the non-pi gt's (96-98), they are slower then the 99+...

yeah a 99+ would be a bit too pricey for me, Im only 17. I have about 7-8 to spend on it. Theres a ad for one in my local paper 96 gt 5-speed, "laser red" every option. 74,800 miles and its 7,900.. Is it worth it?

The 96 GT in laser red seems like a bit too pricey, as he probably priced because he knew the buyer would want some $$$ taken off of the cost.

i'd pass on that one,, the mileage is good, but thats about all that the buyer has going for him..

since you are only looking for the 94-98 body style,, you'd be best going with the 5.0 engine in the 94-95 model years.

They are still quite cheap, even if you can find one with good mileage, say in the 50K range... expect to spend well under 8,000

and as they mentioned above, parts are MUCH MUCH cheaper, and more readily available for a 5.0 over a 4.6.

not to mention the bang for the buck argument. The 302 would cost you a fraction of what it would take to make the the non PI4.6 a low 13 second car.

Don't just look in the paper.. News papers are dieing.. Search ebay, search auto trader and even do a google search for mustangs for sale.. You might have to drive an hour or two but the web will bring you a whole lot more options..

Also, the 5.0's are ALOT cheaper but also slower.. However, your 17 and are prob. looking for a machine that will smoke the tires and go fast.. The 5.0 is what you want.. Those are tried and true motors.. I had a 92GT and the thing never saw under 6k RPMs.. I mean the thing took the beating and asked for more each time.. I havn't heard too much about the 4.6s but I can speak for the 5.0..

Which is cheaper?? The 5.0 by far.. BUT, if you want to upgrade your going to have to do more things to the 5.0 to get it to move better.. The 5.0 I had took about $3k to get it sounding right and moving right.. Don't get me wrong though, a stock 5.0 will move and smoke tires.. After all, I'm sure thats all you want =)
