Default Tri-ax Gasget?

I'm getting a gently used Tri-ax shifter from a friend. Is it worth it to get the Shifter Base & Handle Gasket? Doesn't seem to be any drawback from the descriptions, but has anyone had any experience. I have an 02 with a 3650 if it makes any difference.

Either way, silicone works just as good for the base. My MGW came w/ a base gasket so I used it.

Yup, I used the small tube of rtv that MGW provides to make my gasket.
