Default 2000 Jetta 2.0 Problems

I was just wondering... I was driving in my girlfriends car (2000 Jetta 2.0) and she was on the highway doing 70mph. I realized that her RPM's were around 3,300RPM's!! I dont believe this normal but I know these cars are very wierd. Please let me know if this is normal.

Also, im confused because its shifting through all the gears (auto) but the RPM's are just very high. She is also at 2,000RPM's at 30mph.

IS THIS NORMAL?? Thanks guys.

thats probably normal. little 4 cylinder cars like that chill at much higher rpms on the highway i believe. my friend has a focus zx3 and it is prolly somewhere around 3000 or something i think. im sure on the jetta that the redline is much higher than the 6250 in our cars. maybe around what...7000? 7500? i think its fine. thats what you get for driving a german car lol

^^ Its not me driving it!! I would NEVER get caught driving that thing lol I know that with little cars like that their RPM's are usually higher but I just thought that was a little too high you know. Thanks.

Anyone else have experience with this? or know if this is normal? Thanks guys.

Dan

Haha, yeah, it has to do with the gearing (because they don't make crap for torque, they have really low (high number) gearing)

A Civic SI has a differential gear of 4.40:1 stock.
