ok i just installed the A/C clutch on my 93 5.0 and it cools fine and all, but the clutch stops and starts turnin randomly while the A/C is on. It also screeches wen it starts to spin then stops. Any ideas if that normal, or the clutch needs a break in time, or did I royally screw up on the install?

 

Starting and stopping is normal but the noise when the clutch is engaged is not.If the system was discharged you might have to replace the compressor and have the system cleaned and recharged.The noise could be coming from the lack of lube in the system or the compressor could be corroded to the point of not wanting to turn.This would cause the belt to squeal,there should be no slipping of the A/C clutch.

 

thx for the reply hopefully it isnt the compressor, could the wrong air gap cause the screeching? Wasnt real meticulous about that
