got a question about t5
ok just need to git my facts straight. ive been led to believe that 99 up v6 mustangs use the same t5 as pre 93 era tangs w/ 5.0 even though they are tremecs now, only you have to swap the input shaft and bearing retainer or knock the pilot bearing in further and machine 1/2" off bearing retainer to use this in a v8 app. i can't find any info on these trannies as far as torque rating, etc. i have one but w/ no tag but tailshaft & main housing have this number stamped "352065" . thats the tag number on an 85 gt id tag even though it has the tremec top on it. plus if this is a WC or non WC tranny. any help in the next few hours would be greatly appreciated as i am forced to make a decision that soon.
What is in there now? A C4? If so, you will of course need a new pedal assembly, which can be a PITA to change. (I would remove the front seat top do it.) The WC T5 will easily fit in the trannie tunnel. You will need a spacer plate to maintain the same driveshaft. Here is a link to a good T5 reference chart http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/D...66/t5data.html and you can tell by which one you are gatting what the HP & torque ratings are. I did the swap in my 65 Coupe http://www.rfedd.bigstep.com/generic.html?pid=1 and it did not last long. Here are a couple of locations for T5 swaps. http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ap/index.shtml and http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/D...66/5speed.html

BTW..my T5 did not last long in the Coupe. It got real loose, and fro drag racing was a real pain, but for cruising...awesome.

I dont know why you would want a T5, they are good for a stock car and thats it. they are good for about 300ish lbs of torque! rubbish! I need to upgrade to the tko, they are good for I think like 460ish lbs of torque
