Slicks
I'm going racing this year, and would like to know what slick's you drag racers are running. I am running a 92 LX with a 347 stroker with a 150 shot NOS.I don't care about the cost ,I just want to hook up.
Since you are asking about "slicks", I run a Mickey Thompson 10.5 x 28 x 15 slick, with inner tube. No slick seems to hold air for very long, so I went with tubes. Racing every weekend, they will last about 1 full season. If you run tubes however, I would suggest you use rim screws.
On an earlier car I run a MT 9 x 26 x 15. Had a couple of spare steel wheels I mounted them on, drove to the track, mounted the wheels w/slicks, raced, and at the end of the day put the street tires back on. I ran about 10 pounds of pressure.
I should warn you, that with a good burn out, they will hook. They will also find every weak spot in your drivetrain (if there is one).
Lastly, the car will feel real soft when you lift at the top end of the track. Takes a while to get used to.
