Just wondering if its a good idea or something one should stay away from.

i dont see why it would matter, unless they have a lot of miles on them or they are cut

They say springs never get deformed. At least, that's what I heard when I was looking at suspension for my '67 (original springs, 39 years old, 130k miles). Leaf springs are a different story, but I'd say for a set of coil springs, go for it.

wrong, I have seen coil springs give out, they expand

Why would a coil spring expand if it's under constant compression?
