Default sucky when warm

When my 86 GT is cold it will run like a dog, but as soon as it gets warm its starts runnin like ***. It seems to idle ok but other than that it just sucks. In acceleration it jumps and misses. Anyone have a hunch of what it might be?

Never heard anyone say running like a dog was a good thing....the cooler your engine the better a car will run. Cooler denser air = more hp. How bad does it run when it's warm?

Dude, has to be your air box. Like 95LT said, cooler air = more HP. How is your filter, is it a high flow air filter.

Does the 86 have an MAF? It sounds like the fuel/air mixture is getting leaned out too much. That is while it's warm your "choke" is closed so your getting more fuel less air, when it warms up your getting too much air in the mixture. The reverse of that could be true as well though...choke not opening. As the engine gets warmer it needs less air. What's the setup on the '86? Fuel injection? Can't remember.

Air filter?Come on an air filter doesnt make it do that!

That sounds more like timing out of adjustment rather than a filter.

Yeah k&n is clean. Its got the speed density setup and it is fuel injected. I put a cam in it so I had to advance the timing a little. I have also bypassed the fuel pressure regulator to allow more fuel in the mix. If my clutch was slippin would it make it feel like it was missing or would it be more of a constant thing. I was just wonderin cause my throwout bearing is clicking and Im gonna replace it tomorrow.

I dropped the transmission today and much to my surprise 4 of the 6 bolts that hold the flywheel on were snapped off. When i dropped the transmission I went to push it away from the engine I noticed the flywheel had moved when I pushed so I left it alone a little while to scared to look at what the friggin hell had gone wrong. I eventually went back to it and sure enough those bolts were broken. Its turnin out to be a bitch to get the other peices out of the holes where it bolts onto the crank. It is so much fun I just cant control myself. Dont ask me how it happened cause I sure as hell dont know. Maybe they werent torqued down vibrated loose and snapped off on the cluch disc??? Anyway thats what kind of **** I get myself into. God daMN I love my car!!!![:@]
