Default 5.0 T-Top

I found a 80 something 5.0 with t-tops that I can get from the guy cheap because as he put it "it's going to a good home with some fast company." I had a few questions about this car. First how many of these were built, out of the million Mustangs I have seen this was the second with t tops and the first I had to do about 95 to catch to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Second how much is this car worth? The motor is in the car just needs to be bolted up and the car will run. The third question is would anyone be interested in this car? I would be willing to except a hardtop with a 2.3 in it as a partial trade. The 2.3 will be used as an enduro car. The class requires a 4 cylinder and I won't drive a front wheel drive car in a race. Car will be used to smoke hondas in the 1/4 mile oval instead of drags.
Any help would be appreciated, I'm a F-body guy and completely lost around these things.

is it a coupe or a hatch?

if it is an 80 or an 81 V8, then it is a 4.2l

Not sure of the year. It has the single square headlights not the double and he said it still has the stock 5.0 in it. Havn't seen the car in awhile, but I'm about 90% sure it is a hatch. Thanks for any info.

Yeah that's kind of what I thought. This was only the second T-Top Mustang I have seen and the first one I didn't believe my eyes. I figured this would be a good place to start to get an idea of how rare it was and if it was worth anything. I would love to trade it for a couple stripped 2.3 powered hard tops to run in a stock 4 cylinder enduro. Would run the 4 cylinder 84 Firebird parts car I have but even I will admit it is too big and heavy. I currently have too many projects and would like to restore it just because it's not something you see everyday but have no time.

I had the t-top notch, it was a 2.3L 4 banger

or maybe I just thing t-tops are common because every fox body I have had was a t-top...

That's cool, I always kinda wanted a T-Top. They didn't make too many after the body change ('87), but I can't remember if they stopped half way through '87 or '88, but I know it was one of those. So they're not super common, but I don't know if that makes them worth much more.
