Single to dual plane

Single to dual plane
Thinking about swapping out the single-plane Torker II on my 289 for a dual plane Performer. Anyone gone from a single to dual plane intake and noticed a big difference in performance? I'm hoping for better throttle response and a livlier first gear.

Is this a street driven vehicle for the most part?
If so swap the single plain for a dual.It will definately help you out in the lower rpms and give you more torque down low.You will notice a huge difference as long as you get a good intake. In my opinion get an RPM performer or a STEALTH.
Let me know what you think.

Thanks, Killer. I'll be driving it exclusively on the street. I've heard good things about both the Performer and the Stealth. I'll be putting the 600cfm Edlebrock Performer carb (vac secondaries) that was on the Torker back on it. With the Torker II that I just took off, it was awful in first gear. I really had to tach it up just to get it moving! Thanks, again.

that carb you have it's really great on throttle response with a single plane..what you could had done is notch the plenum and put in a divider this would had helped you lower end...with the air gap rpm you can used carb spacers to change rpms..it's a really good intake..good luck

I carb spacer is always a good idea.I run a 1 inch open aluminum spacer on mine.
Make sure you either go with an RPm or a stealth do no waste the money on an AIR GAP they arent worth the extra money.Do a search on the net for their comparisons it wasnt anything you could even notice other than the price differences.
Yeah i bet it took a few more rpms to get you going because you have nothing helping you down low.It only got going when it got into its power band.
That carb (1406) is an absolutely AMAZING carb!I have it on my 331 and i love it!Its great on the street, easy to tune, easy to maintain, great throttle response and the list goes on.I suggest that carb its a great carb.

Thanks, again guys. Got the new Performer yesterday (sold the Torker II on eBay) so I'll be putting it on this weekend. I'll be putting the 600 cfm 1406 back on top and then we'll see what happens!!
