Default Puzzled: Electronics

Had a problem with a car last weekend. The driving lights and breaking lights would stay on even after the car was turned off, keys removed, lights off, in park, e-break on, and even after the fuses were removed.

Finally we just decided to disconnect the battery cable to conserve the power that was left so we could take it to a shop the next day to get it looked at. So the next day rolls around and I reconnect the battery cable, there are a few sparks but the only thing I could find that was "on" was a small lamp that was built into the hood for when you're working on it. The driving lights and breaking lights; however, weren't on anymore. They worked fine still, when the lights were turned on. So my family and I are puzzled by this, and the -only- thing I can even imagine is there was some sort of short somewhere in the electronics between the lights and the fuse.

Any thoughts and opinions? And no, it wasn't in a mustang, it was in a Ford Explorer, 1994. It's my back-up vehicle while my poor mustang sits in the drive-way waiting for a new plenum :\

Hey LEVI, don't sweat it. Sometimes gremlins just get into electric systems! I have had stranger things happen! BTW, I drive an AIRBUS (all electrical) and it happens quite often! Really! We just power down and re-boot..MAGIC!

Makes you wanna go flying doesn't it?!!! LOL

Is this the thread we can b!tch about electronics/electrical stuff? Good..

Today for the 2nd time this year I want to drop the top & go for a cruise,, but driver side rear window won't go down!! [:@] nothing happens when I push the window button. The same thing happened a couple weeks ago, but then just a few hours later I try the button again & the glass went down just like normal. Do you think it's a faulty switch or what??

And no I don't have any helpful advice for the first 2 complainers in this thread lol

GreyStang, I just bought a 2001 mustang convertible and when i bought the car it was having the same problem. The back right window wouldn't go down. I bought the car knowing that and i would have to fix this.
So about 2 hours after i bought it i decided to see if it would work... and wala it went down. It is working properly now. I didn't do anything but my problem now is since that started working now my drivers window wont work. Funny isn't it. Im getting up early tomarrow on my day off to try to fix it.
If I find anything new about it i will post. Just wanted you to know that your not the only one out there having that problem....
