Hello all. I have a toploader tranny and when shifting, well its not that tight. I'm comming from a 6 speed celica which has the closest shift gates in the world. And i want to get this 4 speed a little tighter. So heres my question

Is it possible to get this toploader tranny to shift quicker with alot less slop? If so how and where?'

Buy an aftermarket linkage shift kit with a short throw. There are alot of them out there, Steeda being one. Also consider changing the tranny fluid to Royal Purple. http://www.royalpurple.com/techa/whyrpa.html

 

Well i searched and searched, and looked at the steeda one. Still couldnt find one that says it will work with a toploader tranny. I identified the tranny being a RUG-AV1 which goes on 70 and 71 mustangs.

Any other shifter kits for this toploader tranny i'm just not seeing?
