I have a 93 lx 5.0 and Just put in a set of chassis engineering lower control arms and a new rear end with 4:10 gears. Everything was fine before I did the swap but now when I brake and am almost stopped I hear a metal to metal clunk underneath the car on the aft passenger side of the car. now when I did the rear end swap I did completely disassemble the brakes and might not have put the passenger rear back together right because of a time restraint but I also checked to see if everything was tight between the lower arms and rear end and it is. I still have the stock torque boxes and the stock upper control arms, but dont think anything is broken because the car drove without problems before hand, and when I switched over I took the car around the parking lot for a very light test drive and noticed the problem almost every time I stopped. any suggestions would be greatly apprecciated

when there was noise coming from my moms taurus when braking, it was the jack in the trunk slamming into the something lol when she hit the breaks.

no it sounds like something from underneath the car i cant figure the dang thing out though because i cant duplicate the problem on the lift.

Did you remember to bolt the rear sway bar back up?

sure did ... and even took off my wheels double checked and re torqued them again ... man I am going crazy. It literally sounds like a little midget is banging on the floor board with a hammer, and when I have a passenger it sounds like hes using a sledge. but when i am braking downhill while on one of those huge speed humps the bang turns into a repaeted bang drags like it might be the brakes or something but you wouldnt feel the brakes in the damn floor board I wouldnt think.

hahahh well something is hitting it either way, either tranny problems, exhaust hitting or something up with the 4:10's still dont get why people get them. I have 3:73's on the Turbo 331 and they seem way too lay

The problem ended up being the passenger rear brake catching and slamming against the drum because the parking brake was sticking.
