Any One Know How to Measrue Pinion Angle?

Any One Know How to Measrue Pinion Angle?
I though I had the pinion angle set right once, but now not sure.... I measured the angle of the driveshaft and it read 4 degrees... measurement from base of the center section read one degree... Instructions I found on the internet somehow added 90 degrees, so if I understand the instructions the driveshaft would be -93 degrees and the center section would be 89 degrees and the difference would be -4 degrees. Is this correct? Im lost...

Thanks, but I did a search and found that and it confused me even more cuz theyre reading the angles off the bottom of the protractor and my measurement is on top of the "circle" of degrees...
