Gears and smog
Do 3.73 or 4.10 gears cause your car to fail a smog test in CA due to higher engine speed at the same tested wheel speeds (15mph and 25mph)?
I have a 1995 5-liter with a 5 speed if that makes a difference. I think the stock axle is 2.73 or something pathetic like that. Im new to fords so i'm not sure.
Thanks
Jake

UPDATE; Smogged it last night after work; passed! Here are the details.....
%CO2 %O2 HC(PPM) CO(%) NO(PPM)
Test RPM meas meas max ave meas max ave meas max ave meas results
15mph 2,402 11.2 5.3 121 31 55 .76 .10 .01 807 237 238 PASS
25mph 1,941 11.4 4.9 96 20 30 .65 .09 .01 746 199 156 PASS
Truth be told; I had only a couple things that might rais a red flag on the "visual". Adj fuel pressure regulator & you can hear the cam(no cam E.O#).
So 4.10's didn't seem to affect emissions compliance out the tailpipe at all.....
