Default Fuel Gauge

Car: 93 mustang 5.0L LX Conv. My fuel gauge is acting up. One second it measures perfect and the next it just goes all the way down. I was wondering what I can do and wat the problem might be. Today or tomorrow I'm going to check the wiring on top of the gas tank for any loose connections? Anyone have any other ideas?

Default RE: Fuel Gauge

if the connection would be failing down at the tank. would that mean the fuel pump stops working too?

Default RE: Fuel Gauge

Ive gone through the same problem with my 91 convertible. The only gauge not working was the fuel I replaced the sending unit which is a float that drops in the tank it is seperate from the fuel pump so dont let anyone tell you different not even the mechanics in my town new that. I also replaced the fuel gauge itself and still had no luck. If you do those two things and it doesnt work check your wiring......it runs from the top of the sending unit up through the trunk to the driver side of the car then underneath all the way up to the dash. Most likely the problem will be right around the gauge or nearby the trunk because thats where there most exposed. Hope I could help ya good luck.
