Looking for some Drag tires
Ok guys. Im looking for a new set of drag tires to go on my 17x10.5 rims. Ill probably end up getting a 315/35/ZR17. But the issue is, what brand? I like both the Mickey Thompson E/T Streets and the Nitto 555s. Heres what Im looking for:
These tires will be my daily drivers. I wont be forking out for a new set of rims (wish I could tho) so I need a tire that will hold up long enough on the road, and also be able to handle the occasional wet roads (although i realize ill have to be a little un-retarded when that happens). however, I want to be able to hook at the strip, and keep em hooked even when im off the launch pad (last time i went I put the tires into a complete spin at 55 mph.... stupid hankooks [:'(])
From what I have gathered, the ETs are the better strip tire, but the Nittos hold up better on the road. so lets hear from u guys who have em. How well do ur ETs hold up when driving around town, and how well do ur Nittos catch at the track?

On your car I would get the Nitto's even though I hate them personally, but since it's your dd they make the most sense. Don't over look the BFG's they are kinda in the middle of M/T and Nitto as far as grip and tread wear.

I've had MT ET Street Radials for around 4K.
Don't get me wrong, ive been very very very gentle on them, but they are holding up very well
i see little treadwear, but nothing that makes me think they are about to give on me.
I'll probalby end up swapping them out for some crappy daily rubber and keeping them laying around sicne i wont be going to the track anytime soon
(unless someone is interested in buying them 275/40/17, asking 350,,,, and that is why i dont think i'll sell them [8D])

so, which BFGs are good? the traction T/As? I cant find anything that even seems any closer to DR than that, and from reading the description it seems like the nittos have more rubber to the ground and softer compound

i found these on tires-easy.com for 161. size is 315/35/17.
and then it said
Due to their high grip tread compound g-Force T/A Drag Radial tires are not speed rated
I think I may go this route unless anyone has any huge objections. There were some nittos posted there too and they were about the same price. so, how well do these things wear on the street? will I be buying a set every summer? if so, I may get the nitto 555s
hook treadwear rain
nitto 1 3 3
bfg 2 1 1
mt 3 2 2
just my .02$
i love my mickeys. i have a friend that got over 12,000miles out of his and alot of passes down the 1/4mile "275/40r17"

so the BFGs wear worse than the MTs? I think im still leaning towards the Nittos just because I can drive them in the rain. How well will the Nittos hook compared to my hankooks? im pretty well convinced id have better traction on bare rims than on these tires [:'(]. they dont even make squeel when i peel out, they just make a rubbing noise as they slide across the pavement.
