Default need a wiring expert

1994 5.0 stang with a wiring problem, battery goes dead in a week, found tan wire that plugs into headlight switch melted. the wiring diagram in my repair manual showes no such tan wire, can anybody tell me what it goes to, im guessing the fog lights since they havent worked in a while

I'm no wiring expert nor anywhere near being good at it. But since no one else has responded & you needed a TTT.....

I'd check for a draw at the battery, make sure I had a good charge on the battery, clip the tan wire in the middle of the burned section, & then see if the draw dissapeared at the battery or not. A multimeter would work for sure; you might be able to do it with a test light(?) If the tan wire was not the problem; no big deal since you needed to replace that burned section of wire anyways. Then I'd move on to pulling fuses & rechecking for the draw at the battery to narrow down the problem circuit....

you mean the switch in the dash to the left of the instrument cluster that turns the lights on and off?

is it tan/white?if so it goes into your fuse box and uses a 15a fuse

from there it changes to black/orange and goes to main switch light and also offshoots to a fuse block
