i bought my 95 gt with 107k for 5200. It had headers and gears and springs, and on the side he threw in brandnew rotors/pads for the front. And all was sound. Oh yea, came with flowmasters and some stainless exhaust that were already on it too.

was your 95 a convretable? also all the mods being done is a pluse for me because i don't know if i could do them and to have someone else do it would cast a lot. how much is it to have a stang lowered? i think he said something about the H brace it the front being after market too.

i know your saying the mods dont add value to the car but how much do you think it would cost for me to do all that? also how much do cars modded like that go for around here? remember i want convertable.

thanks for all the replys.

I would say around 6k if it is mint condition. Mods do not add value and while the owner put more than that into the car, the engine has miles on it and it is older. The value is lost somewhat. You can prob. talk him down because gas prices will make it hard to sell and you can say that you arent interested in the mods done. If he has a serious buyer in front of him to buy his 'gas hog' he should be willing to dance.

up dated mods list:

96 Mustang GT Conv'
cobra wheels
side pipes (sounds awesome)
roll bar behind drivers seat
new $2600 paint job (so he says) (black) (because it was keyed)
cd mach 1 sound system
leather
90,000mi
great condition.
lowered
hurst short shifter
cold air induction
drag chip
something about the vaulve cover or something
4:10 gears

i know your saying the mods don't add vaule but what would it cost me to do all this? what would it cost me to buy another car like this on here (or any where)

also what kind of gas mpg do you think i'd get? he said about 10-12 if your on it all the time or 18-20 highway. sound about right?

thanks again

That mod list is somewhat extensive. You will have to put some serious cash into a car to get those mods. Dont let that blind you about the money put into mods. MODS MEAN ZERO!!!! Believe me, I bought my car like that and while I am happy with it, the mods became a bit of a problem.

Ex. I bought my car w/ "15K invested in the car." I had to replace the engine within the year cause it was junk and am now replacing the tranny probably. It is real nice but you have to watch out. I still would stay by my original price. I bought my 96 GT coupe with mods almost two years ago for 6200 dollars. I had similar mods minus the rims and new paint job, and of course vert. That would, with that kind of milage, and vert make the car you are looking at be worth at most 6k.

I get about 15-17 miles per gallon highway, city, and cruising combined. On highway only, I would get about 21-23 miles per gallon I believe. Remember, you have some cards to deal like I said. I doubt the seller has a line of potential buyers because it is a V8 w/ bad gas milage. You can use that to your advantage.

he says he has almost $8000 in the car and that he can't sell it for any less.

Again.... It really falls into the catagory of "is it worth it too you?". You want it & you are willing to pay the money; I'm sure the owner will not turn your money down.... I'll pay more for something I want. Wether it be exceptional\above average condition, extensive mod's that I both know I want & what it would cost me to install, low mileage and or clear title, etc.

He wants to sell it for 8k??? Is that what you are saying?

If yes, I would walk away IMHO. People who want to sell you a car on the mods they have done are normally exaggerating it a little - a lot. I see from the mods you listed here, 6k in mods AT MOST. The paint job at the alleged 2600 is the biggie there. I still stay by my quote.

Good luck

I agree. 5 to 6k is all I would pay. The paint job doesn't add value unless it is a very extensive paint job. Paint is a normal upkeep or preventative maintenance to keep it from rusting and such. Someone could have a perfect painted car still from the factory which is what excellent in the KBB quote or a paint job that is chipping, rusting, etc...that only decreases the value of the car. One thing I would do is say, I don't want the mods...take them off and I'll buy the car from you like that. Plus the modifications are already used...would you pay someone 20k for a used car when the new car is only 20k? I wouldn't.
