Default Engine Swap

Has anyone swapped an older EFI 5.0 into a 99-04 mustang? Will It even fit? If so, will it pass emissions? I want to drop one in a 99' V6... it'd be sweet to have those extra cubes and not have to spend a bundle for aftermarket performance parts. It'd be even sweeter if i could build a stroked 351 with and upgraded 302 EFI System... Thanks in advance for the help.

Check out the 351 section under special stangs for a sticky on 351 swaps... though i believe most here would recommend carburation...

carbureted 351 in a 99' stang? I don't think that'd fly... is there a way to make a late model car with a carbureted engine street legal that i don't know about? That'd make my little project a million times easier, as i'm a big fan of carbureted engines.

yes cause they are the same as the 94-98s, but why, the car as is with the V-6 has the potenital to go faster as a 6er then if you were to pay to have a 302 or 351 droped in, take that 4k or what ever for the motor, tranny, computer crap, rear end, suspention and god knows what else, buy yourself an 11 psi procharger from vmptuning.com, and run mid 13s

ok i meant that if has the car as it is, with the V-6 it would be easier to get into the 11s by just throwing a procharger on there then it would be to swap out a V-8, the replacement for displacement is boost

yea matthockey, and hes still N/A

not that im aware of, i remember hearing that the guy from VMPtuning has 17 psi through a DD, we got autobadges.com who has about 280 rwhp and cobra232 who has around 260 rwhp, both mid to low 13s, there are a few guys on 3.8mustang.com and V-6power.net though

A V-6 mustang, even a supercharged V-6 'stang seems a little too.... ricy? Besides, I dont want to run 11's... I want to run 10's on 10.5" sticky's. I'd much rather have a V-8 under the hood. Besides, Im doing all the work myself. I figured I'd yank a $1000 high milage 302 from a wrecked 95' and rebuild it from the ground up. I'd bore it, drop in new forged pistons, rods and stroker crank (331 or 347), add pocket ported gt40 aluminum heads, 30lb. injectors, BBK intake, a dual stage nitrous kit, 75mm TB and a whole bunch of other crap. I'm looking for around 400 on the motor with a 200 hit of spray.

Back to the origional question... Do I have a snowballs chance in hell of passing emissions with this setup? or should i scrap the idea?
