Default rotors

How do you know when rotors are shot? The reason being on my moms 02 altima the pads are shot, but we dont wanna replace them if there just ganna get torn up by the rotors.

Well, does the car stop w/o pulsating? You can measure the rotor thickness w/ a micrometer to see if there is still enough material to machine them. Are there heat cracks or hot spots on them?

The bottom line is to measue the thickness with
calipers. Usually, 2 to 3 sets of pads before
the rotors ware out.
A heat spot looks like a burn mark in the
metal.
