how can you tell if your engine is running stong? it seems to be, but I'd like to make sure. what are some tests? The reason is that I just added nitrous, and I want to monitor the effect on the engine. also, my check engine light comes on when I race. it's a stock computer, and the light goes off.

 

Do a compression test to tell if your rings are taking any abuse.

Well dude, I am not slamm'in down youre ride, Its not worth using NOS cause youre just burning youre engine out, Unless youre got some sponsors to fork the bill too, better off buying a supercharger to save the wear and tear on youre engine, Ive seen compression rings burnt out , pistons cooked in half from NOS, Its all in youre favor, I would waste the time with NOS, Just build the engine up with atfermarket parts it will do fine with that.

 

the raw numbers are not as important as the relationship to each other. if they're all within 10-15% of each other, than they are good numbers. if any one is lower than that from the others, then you might have a problem with one cylinder. another way to compare is to look at the timeslips to see if the car is falling off any in similar air conditions. if it stays fairly consistent week to week in the same air, then you haven't hurt it any yet!

 

I'm with e40, stick with the supercharger and just upgrade that if you want some more power.

 

the NX is already on there, and its not coming off. This might not be the way to do things, but I figure that if there is a problem, than it needed to be fixed anyways. I'm trying to learn, and what better way than first hand. Like I said, the motor should be able to handle it, but I would like to monitor the effect.
