2000 Mustang front end noise
I have a 2000 Mustang with the 3.8 V-6. When I turn to the left or right with car stopped I hear a squealing when the wheel is straight no noise(same noise while driving). My first thoughts was power steering fluid, but it was full. Then I thought it was the serpentine belt ot the steering pump was bad. The strange thing is I hear the same noise when I am on a bumppy road or going up a gravel driveway with wheel straight. Also I can go out and push up and down on the front hood and hear what sounds like the same noise. I thought maybe it just needed greesed some where but the guy at the garage said there was no fittings on the front? Has anyone else ever had this problem? Could it be the belt or struts.....or something else???"
Could be lower control arms. Unfortunately I had a similar issue with mine. Front end would make a scrunching sound as I firmly applied the brakes at low speeds. (if I 'rocked' the car)
Luckily the car was still BARELY under warranty, so Ford took care of it. I would speak with someone at the dealership about it.

Hey Dupon...
May sound odd, but I ran into this with my '98 Taurus. Funny squeaking noise when I turned, and occasionally with bumps. Turned out to be outer tie rod ends. Before I found this, I replaced the PS pump, belt, dlr inspected rack, and removed the rubber/plastic through the firewall! I luckily found this by accident and it worked great!
Good luck,
Troy

Troy you are the man, it was the outer Tie Rod Ends. The garege had me thinking it was the Ball Joints as I was inspecting them I popped off the Tie Rod and noticed the squeak noise was comming fron there. What a difference a quite Mustang sounds, Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions but Troy is the winner!!!

Glad to help. Like I said, this drove me crazy for a long time until I stumbled upon that cure. I wouldn't have thought in a million years it was the tie rod ends!
