Getting ripped off on Air Conditioner?
Hey,
I have an appointment at the A/C shop on Friday for my 89 5.0 convertible. Lady on the phone said it will be 30 bucks for the diagnostic plus 18 dollars per fitting to 'retrofit' the A/C since it has the older coolant setup. Lady told me I wouold probably need two fittings. Lady also told me how much the coolant was, something like a couple bucks an ounce or something. So basically I am going to be out $66 even if they don't fix anything. Shouldn't all that stuff be included in the fix-it price? Just wondering...I am getting this done at the A/C shop on the army base here so they have to be legit I guess.....just wondering if I should shop around.

That's actually pretty cheap for retrofitting... even if they don't fix anything you'll be able to go to an auto parts store and refil with R134A for dirt cheap....
