sponsorship
well guys midnight madness is on the 12th, my stang is pretty much stock 84 302 carb
im gonna run it this will be my very first drag race at a track im pretty excited but nervous too.... im hoping for a atleast a 15 as it is stock. i had a few questions to you all who have been racing a long time and to you all who maybe have pro-mod cars and do it for a living. My question is if i start racing and etc how could i possibly go about getting a sponsor ship, yes i kno they dont just throw you money and u get to keep it its a mutual thing etc. Next how possible is it to get a sponsorship build a pro-mod car out of it and maybe make a living off drag racing or is this something for the rich only?
well getting that out of the way, any tips from you all for my first run or should i just go and enjoy my self for a couple runs and just sit back and watch everyone else after i run... i want to run while its stock and dyno it so i can make like a progress of what ive got after i start modding.... i plan on going mostly drag car with it / take it out some weeeknds i have a v6 camaro for a daily driver... gas saver compared to the stang

'84 302 4V is rated for 175hp/245tq and I think curb weight is right around 3200 pounds. I doubt you'll be able to make it in to the 15's unless you're a good driver. Probably mid 16's. Just my guess.
Most professional drag racer's are in it for the love of the sport, already work in that type field(have thier own machine shop, head porting buisness, car repair facility, etc), & start out using thier own resources\money. When they do well & have all those aftermarket part stickers on the exterior of thier race car; they get "contingency" money. Sponsorship can come in many forms: a)Paying you money to promote a company by word of mouth & having thier buisness logo dissplayed on your race car & b)By giving you parts, dyno tunes, burning you a chip, performing repairs, etc for free or at a severly discounted price & displaying thier decal(s) on the car. I have both. My timing was lucky on option "B"; a guy wanted to get word out on his shop's capabilities, he knew i drag raced allot, & he asked me to help promote his shop. Option "A" took some time; I put together a folder with pictures of my car, the tracks i run at, performance data, & basiclly outlined how I would help promote the company brand. It took about a year of persistant communication before they finally okayed the money\sponsorship deal. Keep in mind that there are many places to hit to offer your advertisment services too; they do not have to be automotve or race related companies.....
yea i'm thinking about trying to get me a sponsor 4 this year. It is pointless in me trying to get 1 right now though i need to get my car repainted first. I don't think the shape it's in right now anyone would sponsor me. I do know a company just starting out so that might help a alittle bit.
