84 door on 89 GT
I was told that physically the door from
an 84 coupe will fit. I need to replace
My power window and picked up a whole
door.
ALSO:
Is it easier to grind off the head of the
door hinge PIN on both door to make the
replacement or do I have to break my
nuts taking off the hinge bolts?

I'm guessing this is too late to help you, but if anyone else needs to know...
I just went through pulling both rusted out doors off my '84 and putting on doors from a '91(I think).
Anyways, I got a new hinge pin kit. I took a Dremel and cut through the middle of the old pins. Tried many different techniques and this was the fastest, went through a few discs though. While you're at it, get new striker bolt bushings and realign your door.
As long as your car is a coupe or hatchback they'll fit because the bare metal is basically the same. Convertables are different, T-tops probably are too.
I did notice that the front window tracks were different because the newer door had round holes for the door speakers. The window trim/rubber will be different. If you're careful you may be able to save the stuff off your old door...watch out for the rivets. The molding on the side will be different too.
In your case, I'd just replace the power window parts and sell the '84 door if it's in decent shape.

Mike;
No you are not too late.. I will attack the
door in a few weeks. The reason for the
replacement is the window occasionally
will go down and will not get the power
to go back up. If I take off the door
panel and hit the motor while pushing the
UP button it will start working. So I figure
some limit switch is the cause.
How hard is it to replace the window drive
assembly???

you can either rivet the new drive motor in or use small bolts (short)
