Wide Open Throttle (WOT) A/C relay...
Wudup,
My A/C went out...dude at shop showed me where my Wide Open Throttle (WOT) A/C relay was corroded. Anyway....I understand that the WOT relay's purpose is to shut off the compressor at high RPM's. So here's my question: Is the WOT relay's purpose to save Horsepower, or, is it to keep the compressor from being overloaded by high rpm's and self destructing? Reason I ask, is that I want to know if this relay is even necessary. I mean, if it is just to save horsepower, I can just turn off the A/C manually and eliminate another part under the hood. Check out this schematic I picked up at http://forums.mustangworks.com/showt...threadid=35028.

Hey, thanks for the info. I ended up spending all day fixing it right anyway, went to junkyard to get the plug since none of the auto parts stores had it. Everyone had the relay, just no plug. Found one off an old Crown Vic, rewired it, and spliced back into the original wires coming from pressure sensor, compressor, 12V, and EEC. I used heated shrink wrap and that paint on rubber crap to make sure the splice was airtight. Anyway, plugged it into the $15 relay and now the A/C kicks on and off when it is supposed to no problem.
By the way, what gears do you have in your stang?
