What Does a K&N air filter do?

 

all the filter does is feed the engine cold air...the cold air means more power...

 

heh... well... the previous answer is incorrect... partially... all filters feed the engine cold air. The cloth material of the K&N allows more air and is capable of being cleaned as oppsed to having to replace a paper filter. The K&N or Holly Cloth filter is a very good addition to your vehicle.

 

It provides more air flow through the filter giving you more air into the MAM. It is also, like Krusher said, a filter that can be cleaned when it gets dirty.

 

Yeah, but lets also not forget the cleaning intervals. I believe it say 50,000 miles, but then I wouldn't wait that long. Suffice to say you won't be buying another filter in most cases. Actually pays for itself quickly.

 

Well i may be old fashioned but i like and prefer paper filters.They are very nice as long as you dont let them get dirty and cruddy.

In fact a paper filter will filter more than a K&N when new but like anything with age it gets worse.lol
