Please Help!!!!!!!
Im new to the Mustang world i just got rid of my integra and im looking at a stang i need some input.
My main question is which motor is better the 5.0 or the 4.6 i want a motor that is going to be dependable and react well with mods and sound sick with the exhaust i want to put on which is the an exhaust sytem that preforms as well as it sounds with off road x pipe and bbk headers. But i know the sound thing is gonna have to be my preference.
Sorry if this has already been posted im in seach of which motor will be better i've heard so much smack talked about both but i just want to get to the bottom of this so i can make my mind up the year id like to buy for the 5.0 is 94-95 and 4.6 96-98.
Thankyou

RE: Please Help!!!!!!!
What are you plans for the car? If I had to chose between the 94-95 and 96-98, I would take the 94-95 because of the Five-oh. THey are cheaper to mod. The 4.6 is a stronger block and a modulare engine. It will be more expensive to mod but still puts out great numbers.

RE: Please Help!!!!!!!
5.0 motors respond better to bolt ons... if you're just going to do bolt-ons, go with the 5.0. On top, the bolt-ons are cheaper and easier to find. The block is the weak link here.
The early 4.6 motors had problems (and in 99 they changed head and intake manifold design and picked up a bunch of HP, that's what you will see as "PI", or performance improved). If you get an early 4.6, a PI swap is in order. The 4.6 will max out around 450 HP (rods are rated to 450)... but the block itself is pretty soild.
I can't speak much more about the 5.0 because I do not have one, I'm all about the 4.6

RE: Please Help!!!!!!!
all about preference, teh 5.0 though still kick *** is very out dated compared to the 4.6 but is a crap load cheaper to mod. its only a difference of 20 or so CID so its pretty much about hte body style you like imo

RE: Please Help!!!!!!!
if you want all out max performance, no holds barred, go with a 4.6. thats if you have the cash to shell out to do it. the 5.0 is the one you want for quick, cheap, reliable power. both motors have their ups and downs. personally, id take a 5.0. so much easier.
