Default K&N filter oils contaminating MAF. Fact or Fiction?

Okay, somebody made a blurb about K&N filter oil foiling MAF's. Anyone have anymore information on this. I can't find a lot on the internet about it. Apparently k&N has done a good job surpressing this info if it's true. My MAF definitely fouled not long after I put the K&N on. Wondering if the new one hasn't fouled some... Trying to decide if I should rip it off and throw something else on. Problem is I can't see throwing away >$160 w/o some verification.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I've never read or heard of this either although you could put way too much oil on one I guess and it could get sucked off onto the mass air meter. just use a light coating of oil and you should be OK.

Haven't oiled it all yet. Not enough miles on it. I will keep that in mind at the refresh though.
