That bar going from the water pump to the alternator looks adjustable, almost like that works as a tensioner instead of the normal pulley, that's weird.

you really ougth to lose that big filter and put a stock filter system back on at that hole in the fender to the left and then you'll have a true cold air intake. you can run a K&N there but you need the stock intake box and pipe towards the throttle body. cut the pipe as needed to install the MAF and you're in business with cold air and yes, you will see a difference over what you have now.

that's what you need but I don't know if I would put the pipe on down to the bumper as you can suck up a lot of water when it rains. I would leave off that pipe and just get the air out of the fenderwell where it will be dry. You can always enlarge the hole in the fenderwell with a sawzall or a cut off wheel on a grinder to get more surface area too. I did mine with a Dremel tool but it used up a lot of blades doing it this way b/c there is some double thickness metal at the hole you have to cut through. The homemade ram air I put on my Stang starts at the foglite hole and comes up like the others do, but then I don't run mine in the rain either.

save your money, just put the stock box back on the fender with a filter and you'll be $150 to the good! the pump size sounds about right, and any regulator should be OK, i got one from Aeromotive for $109. yes you need a gauge to adjust it with. i bought one from Autometer and installed it in a cup mounted on the cowl right in front of me so i can see it going down the track. the gauge, mounting cup, and SS braided hose to install it cost about $100 total, damn hose alone was $42! I'm still using the stock ignition in mine and it still does just fine! I eventually will switch to an MSD system later.
