If your gonna cut the car up do a 4 link over a ladder bar, ladder bars are easy to setup for people but have virtually 0 adjustability as compared to a 4 link. I dont know how tall you are either but factor in that ladder bars are much longer than a 4 link which means moving the driver seat farther towards the steering wheel. I am 6'6" and I could never drive a ladder bar car

After reading the replys of the original poster I think that he might indeed be able to pull this off with some success. You see most of the members here think that just slapping in a 460 will get them a fast car. marcus77 seems to actually know a thing or two about this stuff, sorrif doubted you marcus77. Shifter I like the new avitar, I can't help but feel that it is directed towards me a bit, realize that I have been a big block Mopar guy for years, so I know what the potential of a big engine is. Persoanlly I don't consider 10.4's all that fast for a engine as big as a 460 but thats beside the point. Good luck on your build man.

Nha man not directed towards anyone. Yes I have seen my fair share of big junk in mustangs. I have only been here 4 days and see that most members are fairly young without alot of experience, but that's ok. I was there once also. He can pull off a deep 9 second car fairly easily. If he doesnt get ahead of himself. Stick to fundamentals and make the car hook, thats key.

Personally I think its a cool idea, there are alot of parts that I have seen through experiance that is made for the 460 class, you can either go high rev short stroke or monster torquer stroker, you can go lots of different ways. I have always been this way since my first baby, my Chevelle. I am a high revvin short stroke kind of guy, I like the high revs and horsepower. I know that its not always best for the 1/4 miles and for sure not the 1/8 but I like being able to take something to 7500rpms to shift and know that I can still take it to 8500rpms before hurting it. I like 427's, thats my kinda thing and thats what I am eventually going to build for my Chevelle, right now I have a 396 for it 0.030 over to a 402. Its going to go another 0.030 over to a 408 and if I go another 0.030 over it will be a 413 and I will still have another 0.030 to go (1965 Original Cast) before its too much. The stroke is a 3.76" stroke which is a great stroke for that engine. If I went with a 4.184 bore x 4.0 stroke I would have a 440 out of that thang But I dont know if I am going to go that much.

Anyways this isnt a chevy forum, Have fun with that 460 and if you get the aluminum heads and intake you wont be all missballanced, though thats some expensive shiz.

this is an idea I had with my first mustang about 6 years ago but never really got into it. It's a done deal now, my 306 went with a phone call and I pick up the 460 and c6 today in trade for a t-5. I thought was a pretty good deal since essentially I could just put a carb on the motor and go right now. I won't but I could. As for height, I am short...5'7" and only weigh 155 lbs so moving the seat up is no problem. I have been tossed over the ladder bar vs 4 link this whole weekend. I think with my financial ability I will wait to stroke it but I will rebuild it with the kit summit has for $550, the tranny is next not sure just yet on price but it's gettng a transbrake, and then the rear clip. thinking of selling the 8.8 and having the 9" from the donor truck shortened and built. some aspects of the plan I haven't worked out completely but this is only day 3 so I think I have made some good progress with the planning. I have a few freinds that are really good welders and I am not too bad with fitting things to be welded, used to do that for a machine shop years ago. I might wind up with the exhaust manifolds for a while until I can have someone custom make some headers for me, was thinking about Kooks. I just really want to have this thing well planned otherwise nothing that good will come from it....it will not hook up, look like crap, etc.

well I was thinking about not really messing with the rebuild for a little bit but the numbers on a compression check seem a little iffy. Tell me what you guys think
#1 140
#2 115
#3 110
#4 135
#5 125
#6 140
#7 125
#8 120

I was told that a basic rule of thumb for compression testing was that all cylinders should be within 15% of each other and I have the largest margin at about 21.5 percent. I do plan on rebuilding the motor but I was kinda wondering on when I would have to. If I just take it out and reseal it and have a valve job done on the stock heads I could have it up alot sooner. What do you guys think?

I'm in the middle of my 460 swap and I'm having trouble with fitting the hooker headers with the Ford Motorsport's engine mount's just to give you a heads up. It's tight where the steering shaft goes through and where they both go down by the lower control arms/frame. As for oil pan you have to go with a rear sump oil pan with high volume pump. I got mine through Ford Motorsport as well. It's best to go with an electric rad fan because the motor sits pretty high. A 4" hood scoop is a minimum because of course the motor is so tall but the distributor is up there as well. That's about as far as I am so far.
