Help with car
If you are going to change the ignition module, here is a bit of advice. Make sure you buy a distributor tool. It is the only toll you can use to remove the ignition coil. I had to learn it the hard way. A standard deep socket will not fit... LOL
To check and make sure your plugs are firing you can take the boot off and hold it near a metal part, when you turn over the car you should see a spark jump from the boot. If they are all not firing then you have a problem between the plugs and the rest of the ignition system. Remember, your engine needs, air, fuel, and spark to run, if it turns over but doesn't start it's not getting one of those three things.
Start by listening when you turn the key fowards for the fuel pump if you hear a hum its cool.
Second if the first worked out is to get a spark plug and take the wire off your distributor and ground the plug while you crank it over if you got spark then move on to the distributor checking cap, rotor, and last but not least the pickup inside the distributor. That is what i bet it is.
I had the same happen to me.You can replace the pick up for like 18 bucks but you have to disassemble the distributor and its a pain in the ***!I went ahead since mine was ancient and bought a new one and recurved it for my own specific tune.
If you are getting spark to your distributor but its not leaving the distributor its that pick up coil.To identify the part im speaking of follow wires that plug into your distributor and look on the inside with the cap off its the little 8 sided shaft that the rotor sits on.
